Commercial Asset Advisors is a dynamic and cutting-edge full service commercial real estate firm, with a focus on office leasing and sales, and multi-family (apartment) building sales in the state of Hawaii. Founded by three high-profile leaders in the industry, CAA provides its clients with a personalized and seamless experience from start to finish.

CAA’s founders, David Asakura and Sean Tadaki have deep roots in the community as well as the real estate industry. Having worked closely together on numerous real estate transactions and projects over the years, the partners formed a very close bond and friendship based on the mutual respect for their individual business practices and ideals. They take pride in their personal and professional relationships and community involvement and founded their company based on these principles. The partners ensure the highest level of professional attention to produce results that lead to long-lasting relationships in the endeavor to create a strong, caring and vibrant community.


SEAN G. TADAKI (S), CCIM – Managing Partner

Sean has built deep roots in the business community and the non-profit sectors in efforts to better Hawaii. He volunteers and serves on the Board of Directors of several organizations including Mental Health Kokua (vice chair), Institute for Human Services (vice chair), The Gift Foundation and the Urban Land Institute, Young Leaders, amongst others. Sean is also a designee and served seven years on the Board of Directors for CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member), which is recognized as the PhD. of commercial real estate.

Over the past decade Sean has been a top producer in the commercial real estate market in Hawaii. He was included in the Hawaii Business Magazine’s 20 For The Next 20 – Hawaii’s People to Watch which selects 20 emerging leaders who have already made big contributions to Hawaii and are expected to have an even greater impact over the next two decades and the Pacific Business News’ “Top Forty Under 40”, which is an exclusive list of the state’s most influential business and civic leaders under the age of 40. He was also voted on by his peers and was named one of Hawaii Business Magazine’s Commercial Real Estate All-Stars and CCIM of the Year.

Sean specializes in corporate office leasing and investment sales. His professional experience includes landlord and tenant representation assignments with local, national, and international corporations. Prior to founding CAA, Sean was one of the youngest to achieve the position of Vice President at the largest commercial real estate firm in Hawaii. He joined the company in early 2000 and earned the title of Top Producer in the office division every year since 2001.


Over the past eight years, and in addition to his corporate real estate efforts, Sean has created a niche for himself in the healthcare commercial real estate sector. Representing hospital and clinical clients such as: Kaiser Permanente Hawaii; Hawaii Pacific Health (a merger between Straub Hospitals, Pali Momi, Kapiolani Women’s and Children and Wilcox Hospital); private practice groups, and surgery and imaging centers, he is a leading force in this definitive category of commercial real estate.


Conversant in Japanese, Sean is a Licensed Real Estate Broker in the states of Hawaii and Massachusetts.

DAVID ASAKURA (B), CCIM – Partner & Principal Broker

David Asakura has a very diverse background that brings a one-of-a-kind perspective to the clients with whom he works. His experience in commercial real estate includes the leasing and management of office and retail properties, tenant representation for lease transactions and construction management. He has also acted as the exclusive leasing agent for multiple properties in Honolulu.

David previously held the position of Account Manager with Colliers Monroe Friedlander, where he supervised a portfolio of 45 properties totaling over 2 million square feet of retail, office, industrial and multi-family assets for Kamehameha Schools, Hawaii’s largest landowner. In this unique role, David supervised the leasing, property management and accounting teams and also worked closely with Kamehameha Schools’ asset management team to develop and implement strategic plans. David’s strength lies with understanding clients’ goals and then guiding them towards success.

Prior to entering the real estate sector, David held the position of Manager of Information Systems and Facilities for one of the nation’s leading engineering and architecture design firms. In this role, he managed offices throughout California, Hawaii and Asia. This diverse experience allows David to bring a distinctive perspective to his clients, allowing him to find real estate solutions that suit the various facets of their business needs.

David holds the highly-desirable designation of CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member), held by just over 100 real estate professionals in the State of Hawaii.

David is also an active member and past President of the board of directors for Honolulu Habitat for Humanity.
