Commercial Asset Advisors is a dynamic and cutting-edge full service commercial real estate firm, with a focus on office leasing and sales, and multi-family (apartment) building sales in the state of Hawaii. Founded by three high-profile leaders in the industry, CAA provides its clients with a personalized and seamless experience from start to finish.

CAA’s founders, David Asakura and Sean Tadaki have deep roots in the community as well as the real estate industry. Having worked closely together on numerous real estate transactions and projects over the years, the partners formed a very close bond and friendship based on the mutual respect for their individual business practices and ideals. They take pride in their personal and professional relationships and community involvement and founded their company based on these principles. The partners ensure the highest level of professional attention to produce results that lead to long-lasting relationships in the endeavor to create a strong, caring and vibrant community.


Bios

SEAN G. TADAKI (S), CCIM – Managing Partner

Sean has built deep roots in the business community and the non-profit sectors in efforts to better Hawaii. He volunteers and serves on the Board of Directors of several organizations including Institute for Human Services (vice chair), The Gift Foundation, National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), and Entrepreneurs Organization (EO Hawaii – President elect). Sean is also a designee and served seven years on the Board of Directors for CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member), which is recognized as the PhD. of commercial real estate.

Since 2001 Sean has been a top producer in the commercial real estate market in Hawaii. He was included in the Hawaii Business Magazine’s 20 For The Next 20 – Hawaii’s People to Watch which is an exclusive list of 20 emerging leaders who have already made big contributions to Hawaii and are expected to have an even greater impact over the next two decades. In addition, Sean was a Pacific Business News’ “Top Forty Under 40”, which is a list of the state’s most influential business and civic leaders under the age of 40. He was also voted on by his peers and was named one of Hawaii Business Magazine’s Commercial Real Estate All-Stars and CCIM of the Year.

Sean specializes in corporate office leasing and investment sales. His professional experience includes landlord and tenant representation assignments with local, national, and international corporations. Prior to founding CAA, Sean was one of the youngest to achieve the position of Vice President at the largest commercial real estate firm in Hawaii. He joined the company in early 2000 and earned the title of Top Producer in the office division every year since 2001.

In addition to his corporate real estate efforts, Sean has created a niche for himself in the healthcare commercial real estate sector. Representing hospital and clinical clients such as: Kaiser Permanente Hawaii; Hawaii Pacific Health (a merger between Straub Hospitals, Pali Momi, Kapiolani Women’s and Children and Wilcox Hospital); private practice groups, and surgery and imaging centers, he is a leading force in this definitive category of commercial real estate.

Conversant in Japanese, Sean is a Licensed Real Estate Broker in the states of Hawaii and Massachusetts.

DAVID ASAKURA (B), CCIM – Partner & Principal Broker

David Asakura is a founding partner and principal broker of Commercial Asset Advisors, a team of seasoned real estate brokerage and consulting professionals focused on providing innovative solutions to its clients. With a deep understanding of the unique Hawaii market, he is an industry leader specializing in the brokerage of multifamily asset transactions for private equity and institutional clients, and has represented many of the REITs, funds, developers, and major private parties who are actively investing in the region.

With over 25 years of experience in real estate design, development, brokerage, due diligence, financial underwriting and asset/project management, he brings a comprehensive set of skills to his clients and investment partners. David oversees strategic acquisitions, equity investments and partnerships, and serves as the sponsor / general partner for a variety of private equity ventures investing in multifamily real estate, energy projects and mass tort financing.

David previously held the position of Account Manager with Colliers International, where he oversaw a portfolio of 45 properties totaling over 2 million square feet of retail, office, industrial and multi-family assets for Kamehameha Schools, Hawaii’s largest landowner. In this unique role, David supervised the leasing, property management and accounting teams and worked closely with Kamehameha Schools’ asset management team to develop and implement strategic plans. David’s strength lies with understanding clients’ goals and then guiding them towards success.

Prior to entering the real estate sector, David held the position of Manager of Information Systems and Facilities for one of the nation’s leading engineering and architecture design firms. In this role, he managed offices throughout California, Hawaii and Asia. This diverse experience allows David to bring a distinctive perspective to his clients, allowing him to find real estate solutions that suit the various facets of their business needs.

David holds the highly-desirable designation of CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member), held by just over 100 real estate professionals in the State of Hawaii, and is a member of the Urban Land Institute.

David has been an active member of the community serving on various non-profit boards/committees and volunteering with industry organizations including Honolulu Habitat for Humanity (past President), Waikiki Community Center and Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce.

JAY ELICKER (B) – Senior Vice President

Jay has established himself as one of Oahu’s leading commercial real estate brokers developing relationships with local and national companies including A&B Properties, Inc., Irongate Partners, Jupiter Holdings and Fergus & Company. Jay has been involved with over 1 million square feet of leasing assignments and has competed over $200 million in sales transactions.

Jay continues to foster relationships in the commercial real estate arena and has consistently been a top performer for most of his career. Jay specializes in the industrial sector with a focus on sales of industrial buildings, vacant land and project leasing representing both landlords and tenants. Jay is a licensed real estate broker and is a member of the Society of Industrial & Office Realtors (SIOR), a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and an active member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR).

CRAIG L. NEHER (S), MBA – Vice President

Craig has over thirty years of demonstrated success representing organizations and products at the point of delivery to decision makers and customers with fifteen years dedicated to commercial real estate services in Hawaii. Often referred to a as one of the most technical brokers in the market, Craig focuses on details and is skilled at lease analysis, integrating multiple components of transactions, developing market-based strategic plans, executing tactical plans, and managing day-to-day transaction activities within corporate and agency frameworks.

Craig’s ‘Full-Service’ approach to client relationships and requirements developed from extensive Landlord representation experience, including Leasing Director with Pacific Office Properties / The Shidler Group representing over 1 million square feet of mixed use commercial properties, and Tenant representation services provided to a wide range of clients including Hawaiiana Group, MDX Hawaii, HCAP – Head Start, First American Title & Escrow, and Raymond James Financial Services. Following a prior career path in medical supply, Craig has developed an extensive sub-specialty related to medical leasing and represented Orthopedic Associates, Hawaii Advanced Imaging, Anesthesiology Innovations, Hawaii Endoscopy, Hawaii Photodamage & Skin Center, and Honolulu Plastic Surgery with new facilities including working thru the arduous Certificate of Need process.

Craig completed his MBA at San Diego State University and is currently pursuing his CCIM designation.

SEAN KETTLEY (S) – Senior Associate

Sean has been active in the Honolulu commercial real estate industry since 2014. His thorough and thoughtful approach to client relationships has helped him become one of the most respected commercial real estate agents in Honolulu.

He has been fortunate to work with outstanding clients including First Hawaii Title, APL Shipping, and a wide variety of medical and dental professional offices. Sean’s successful and notable landlord representation includes Pacific Park Plaza (HighBrook), Hawaii Kai Towne Center (Value Rock), Waterhouse Properties, and 677 Ala Moana (REDICO). Through comprehensive canvassing and relationship building, he is consistently able to find creative ways to work with clients and bring tenants and landlords together and move complex real estate negotiations to a successful close.

Prior to his career in commercial real estate, Sean spent 15 years in the online media and advertising industry. His experience in the fast-paced dotcom environment has translated seamlessly into the world of commercial real estate, where he is now the broker for multiple well-known properties, represents a wide variety of tenants, and provides expertise and guidance to execute deals on expedited timelines.

Outside of work, Sean is an active member in the community. He sits on the board for Rotary of Metro Honolulu, and routinely volunteers for their service projects. He also coaches a year-round boys’ soccer team, and even plays on a men’s soccer team of his own. He has a wife and two children (one in high school, and the other in middle school). Despite his attempts to slow them down, they keep growing and make him laugh on a daily basis.

SEAN DO (S) – Senior Associate

Sean specializes in industrial leasing and investment sales. His professional experience includes representation of landlords, tenants, and investors from locally owned small businesses to multinational corporations.

Sean consistently exceeds his clients’ expectations through his extensive market knowledge, comprehensive financial analysis skills, professionalism, and dedication to creating the highest values and results. Sean is committed to developing meaningful relationships that go beyond a singular transaction, by proactively working with his clients to achieve their long-term goals and objectives.

Sean was raised in Hawaii and graduated from the University of Hawaii, Shidler College of Business with a degree in Finance. He holds the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation, serves on the board of directors of CCIM Hawaii, and is a licensed Hawaii Real Estate Salesperson.
